In two articles, Charles Ehin explains the key thinking behind his new book The Organizational Sweetspot.

Process of Innovation, published in the business magazine Utah CEO, summarizes the core argument. Ehin draws on two decades of research in a wide, multidisciplinary range of topics, from paleontology to neuropsychology, to conclude that human beings do not thrive under control as they are emergent complex and adaptive systems. He encourages people in organizations to identify and grow the organizational sweetspot, which he defines as the overlap between the emergent, tacit, informal human system and the formal, controlled, organizational system.

Innovation Dynamics and Organisational Structures, published on Knowledgeboard - Ehin expands, and shows how the sweetspot helps "everyone [to be] actively engaged in assuring that all activities, resources, and rewards are “equitably” managed by all participants." (September 2009)
